our people Chris Crook Details:

Chris Crook joined Greenwoods in August 2008 as a Partner. Chris has acted for insurers in defending catastrophic injury claims for over 20 years and has been involved in many reported cases .Chris has also been closely associated with the introduction of rehabilitation into the process of claims handling being a founder member of the Disability Assessment Unit. He is also a founder member of its successor, The Bodily Injury Claims Management Association (BICMA). Both organisations have played a major role in the development of the rehabilitation code and have published the practitioners guide to rehabilitation.

Notable cases include:

  • Hunt v Severs – recoverability of gratuitous care.
  • Doyle v Wallace – assessment of loss of earnings; loss of chance.
  • McCauley v Hope – claimant injured in road traffic accident seeking to rely on defendant's conviction of road traffic offence; defendant could challenge conviction.

Chris' hobbies include wine, keeping fit, reading and travel. He is married with three children and lives in Surrey.
